Welcome to the Naborhood

Hi! If you don’t already know me, I’m Natalie Nabors (Let’s take a second to go, OH! THATS WHY HER BLOG NAME IS SPELLED WEIRD! Ok, we good?). I am creating this blog to document what is happening in my life and I figure I ought to introduce myself. When y’all read, do y’all try to imagine the accent that the person has? Like, if you’re reading Harry Potter do you read it in a British accent or is that just me? Well, whether you do or don’t normally do that, go ahead and read this in a southern accent because I grew up in a little town about 13 miles outside downtown Memphis, TN. I’m 21 years old, a senior in college and I have no idea what I’m going to do with my life. Let me rephrase: I have no idea what God is going to do with my life. So, I’m just along for the ride.

For some time now, I figured I would end up in the music business. I go to Visible Music College in downtown Memphis. It is a Christian music school where I study music production. And no. That does not mean that I am some weirdo who sits in her room making “beats” like every other young person who is a so-called “music producer.” I’m going to school to be a real music producer. Like, I know the names of expensive microphones and how to place them on an instrument. I know how to record and mix music that comes out of real instruments. So, yeah. I got it in the bag! You know I’m kidding because I said I have no idea what God is going to do with my life.

Anyhoo (let’s just all agree that that is how you spell that. I mean, it could be anywho or anywhooooo or even anyhoooooo. Who knows), let’s talk about why I’m writing this blog. Although I say that I don’t know what God is going to do with my life, I am waiting, watching, and listening for His plan which is why I am headed off to South Dakota this Saturday. By myself. Oh, and I’ll be there for 3 weeks. Isn’t that crazy?! I mean, I went to South Dakota back in March, but I was with a lot of friends. We went on a mission trip to serve at Chanku Waste Ranch on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and that trip is what made me want to go back. Last time, we were only on the reservation for 4 days, so I left wanting more. Little did I know that God would be sending me back there very soon. So, all that to say, I’m writing this blog to document where God leads me and how He answers prayer.

This is me in the Badlands :)
This is me in the Badlands 🙂

Let’s talk about how God answers prayer. I have been keeping a remembrance journal and I encourage you to do the same. A remembrance journal is a book that you write in every day to just reflect, journal about what happened that day, maybe you could write prayers in it, etc. It is basically for you to look back on things that have happened that may not even seem significant, but turn out to be prayers answered. Seriously. Get you a cute little notebook that sparks joy or whatever and write stuff down! (I linked the ones that I use). It is super helpful and eye-opening to do this! For example: I looked back and saw that April 24, 2019 is when I first wrote down that I needed God to provide money for my trip to South Dakota and honestly, after that I’m not sure I ever mentioned it again. I was at peace and had faith that God would provide. So, Memorial Day weekend (over a month later, I might add), God gave me the idea to make a hat with the state of TN on it. I know it was from Him because I saw the hat at Hobby Lobby and immediately knew what I was going to do with it, which is not something that happens to me when I’m crafting! I am a major planner, guys! I usually would have thought about it, looked online for what I was going to buy, made sure that the specific store I went to had what I needed in stock, wrote out a list or something, you get the point. Seriously, It was from God and I made it just for me because I thought it was cute. Then people started suggesting that I sell them. I didn’t really think much about selling them because I didn’t figure anyone would buy them but then, I was reminded that I need money for this trip and I figured why not. So, the day after Memorial Day (about a month before I leave for my trip), I posted a picture of the hat on my social medias and offered to sell them. The first day, I sold 11 hats. The next day, 6 more. Within a week, I had sold 46 hats and by June 14 (1 week before I leave), I had sold 54 hats which brought in almost the exact amount that we estimated I would need. Isn’t God good? And that’s not even including the donations that people gave. God is good ALL THE TIME! And He answers prayer! Just talk to Him. Tell Him what you need and He will answer you. His answer may be no or wait, but He answers. God wants to hear our requests! Psalm 5:3 says, “In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 says, “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.” So yeah, He provides.
